Introduction
This bill would allow candidates seeking nomination or election to city offices to withhold their home addresses on petitions submitted to the New York City Board of Elections (“the Board”). If this option is taken, the candidate would be required to provide proof of address and a sworn affidavit, on the penalty of perjury, to the Board. The bill would also impose a civil penalty of $1,000 on any candidate who knowingly provides false residence information to the Board.
