- The CWE operates a city-wide workforce education system comprised of 47 union-based and 27 community-based organizations situated in over 44 New York City Council districts. Funding for this program has been provided through the New York City Council, New York State Department of Education EPE (Employment Preparation Education) funding. In addition, a number of programs act as a supplemental enhancement to the New York City Councils Jobs to Build On program, for which funding separately is being requested. Council funds lead to certifications that enable participants to seek employment in diverse industries. CWEs incumbent union worker training programs are designed to upgrade job skills and increase job retention for currently employed workers. Job skills and job readiness training run the gamut from Commercial Driver License training to Buildin! g Maintenance, Film Production Asst., Retail Customer Service, Community Health Worker and Worker Cooperative training.
