Gei Consultants Inc

City-funded organization

GEI Consultants Inc is a geotechnical, environmental, and civil engineering consulting firm founded in 1970 in Winchester, Massachusetts, originally as Geotechnical Engineers Inc., by five engineers who met in Harvard's graduate civil engineering program. It holds active, competitively awarded contracts with the city's Department of Parks and Recreation for environmental engineering services, and has also held Department of Environmental Protection contracts for environmental site assessments. Of the $22.7 million in contract value the city has awarded GEI since 2011, 28% ($6.4 million across 3 contracts) was awarded without a fresh competitive bid, including a $6 million Parks environmental engineering contract that was renewed rather than re-bid and two DEP site assessment contracts (one an assignment, one a renewal).
