Mercato Inc is an online grocery marketplace and e-commerce platform, based at 550 West B Street in San Diego, CA per its own site, that gives independent and local grocers the tools to sell online for delivery or in-store pickup and accepts payment methods including SNAP/EBT and Medicaid. In NYC, the city's Groceries to Go program, which the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene describes as providing eligible New Yorkers monthly credits for grocery delivery or pickup (open to members of NYC Health + Hospitals' NYC Care), runs through Mercato's platform per its own contract titles. In procurement records Mercato has been awarded $40 million in registered contracts since 2021, across the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Department of Environmental Protection, titled "Groceries to Go Program Contract Assignment," "MOFP NYC G2G Food Program" and "Renewal of MOFP NYC G2G Food Program"; $33 million has been paid to date. 100% of contract value ($40 million across all 3 contracts) was awarded without a fresh competitive bid. No contracts are active as of August 2026.
