Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS), founded in 1982 by faith and community leaders on Manhattan's Upper East Side, is a nonprofit providing homeless and at-risk New Yorkers with single-room occupancy and supportive housing, counseling, substance abuse treatment, vocational and educational programs, and its NCS Scholars program for homeless college students, per its own site.
