Permadur Industries, Inc. is a family-owned industrial lifting equipment company, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Hillsborough, New Jersey, that designs and manufactures below-the-hook lifting magnets, vacuum lifting systems and overhead crane and hoist equipment, including through its SISSCO material handling division. In New York City, its work is almost entirely competitively bid crane and hoist maintenance for the Department of Environmental Protection: its three largest active contracts (crane repair, maintenance and engineering services, and crane and hoist inspection and maintenance) were each won through competitive sealed bid, and it also holds a small competitively bid contract with the Department of Sanitation to inspect, repair and test overhead cranes. Permadur has been awarded $29.5 million in city contracts since 2009, of which only 20% of contract value ($5.8 million across 10 contracts) was awarded without a fresh competitive bid.
