School Settlement Association, Inc. is a Brooklyn nonprofit settlement house founded in 1901, among the longest continually operating settlement houses in the borough, providing after-school and summer programming for elementary and middle school children in the Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods (per its own site, schoolsettlement.nyc). All of its city funding runs through the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD): 6 active COMPASS after-school contracts worth $23.3 million, out of $45.3 million awarded across 33 registered DYCD contracts since 2007 (including expired ones), with $21.1 million paid to date. Half of that lifetime contract value, $22.8 million across 26 contracts, was awarded without a fresh competitive bid, mostly tagged "Negotiated contract" on Checkbook, while contracts including "COMPASS Programs in Public Schools - Elementary" and "COMPASS Center Based- Brooklyn 01" were won via open RFP.
