Whitman Nurseries

City-funded organization

Whitman Nurseries, Inc. is a tree farm on Long Island's North Fork, near Jamesport, New York, that grows field-grown shade and street trees, including for New York City's street-tree planting program, according to local news coverage. Its NYC contracts are supply agreements with the Department of Parks and Recreation. As of August 2026 it holds $4.14 million in active contracts, the renewal "CNYG-3916M Renewal: Procurement of Street Trees in Region 1", plus a $9.9 million competitively sealed bid award, "CNYG-2723M Citywide Field Grown Trees from Region 2", that is registered but does not begin until March 2027. Of its $54.6 million in all-time awards since 2009, only 8% of contract value, that single renewal, was won without a fresh competitive bid. The rest were competitively sealed bids.
