Committee on Environmental Protection and Waterfronts meeting

October 20, 2026, 12:00 PM

The Environmental Protection and Waterfronts Committee holds an oversight hearing on the city's citizen enforcement programs, which let residents file complaints to enforce environmental rules. Most of the five bills on the agenda target vehicle idling, raising civil penalties (Int 0011-2026), expanding the use of citizen complaints to enforce idling laws (Int 0561-2026), and shifting liability for leased-vehicle idling to the lessee (Int 0562-2026). The rest would set a code of conduct for citizen noise complaints (Int 0869-2026) and translate the air complaint portal into the city's designated languages (Int 0048-2026).
