The Aging, Disabilities, and Finance committees hold a joint oversight hearing on SCRIE and DRIE, the programs that freeze rent for low-income seniors and tenants with disabilities. Members also weigh a package of bills to widen eligibility, including higher income limits (Int 0978-2026, Int 1010-2026), a universal application and recertification system (Int 0307-2026), and new protections against evicting older tenants (Int 1011-2026). Several resolutions push Albany to broaden the exemptions further.
