Investigation into Union Meeting at a Public School

DOI and the Special Commissioner of Investigation for the New York City School District investigated allegations that a July 2014 meeting sponsored by Local 1182 of the Communications Workers of America and attended by the Mayor at a Brooklyn public school improperly excluded the press. The investigation examined whether the meeting and DOE's approval complied with Chancellor's Regulations D-130 and D-180 and Section 414 of the state Education Law. It found the improper conduct was inadvertent and referred its findings to the First Deputy Mayor and the Chancellor.
