American Sign Language Inc
City-funded organization
American Sign Language Inc, now operating under the ASLI Interpreting brand, is a sign-language and spoken-language interpreting agency founded in New York in 1987 by Frederic Jondreau. It began as New York's first privately owned ASL school and expanded into interpreting services after the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act; it is now part of New Language Partners, headquartered in Tampa, Florida, with a New York office. The company provides related services for special education (interpreting) to the NYC Department of Education under an active $11.1 million contract as of August 2026, and Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing language access services to the Administration for Children's Services under a $685,435 contract. The city has awarded it $23 million since 2017; 53% of that contract value ($12.3 million across 2 contracts) was won without a fresh competitive bid, including the current Department of Education contract, which was a renewal not re-bid.
