Congregation Bnos Chaya is an Orthodox Jewish all-girls private school in the Borough Park section of Brooklyn, serving preschool through 7th grade (per federal Private School Universe Survey data reported by U.S. News Education), and is registered with the IRS as a tax-exempt religious congregation, EIN 45-5275635, exempt since March 2015, per ProPublica Nonprofit Explorer (as a church it is not required to file a public Form 990). Its city-money relationship runs entirely through the Department of Education, which has awarded it $20.5 million since 2014, none of it currently active as of August 2026: two competitively bid (RFP) "UPK-BTF" pre-kindergarten contracts worth $10.5 million and $7.7 million, both ended 2026; a $2.1 million "UPK-Universal Pre-Kindergarten Service" contract awarded as a negotiated, non-competitive deal; and a $201,717 "Learning Bridges Program" contract, part of the Department of Education's pandemic-era child care program for working families launched in 2020, awarded on an emergency, non-competitive basis.
