HMH Education Company, Inc. is the current legal name, adopted in 2024, of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Publishing Company, per its New York State corporate registration. It is the K-12 curriculum and assessment publisher behind the Into Reading program, which most NYC public school districts adopted under the city's reading curriculum mandate. It holds a $15 million Department of Education contract for Periodic Assessments, awarded through an RFP, plus a $937,177 Assignment contract for scoring guide printing, shipment, and training on use, and several small, competitively awarded Small Purchase commodity contracts. Since 2023 it has been awarded $16 million across 12 DOE contracts, 6% of that value ($937,177) without a fresh competitive bid.
