A Roman Catholic parish in Astoria, Queens, within the Diocese of Brooklyn, described by the diocese's newspaper The Tablet as the historic "Mother Parish of Queens," with roots to a wooden church built there in 1841. On Checkbook NYC the parish holds four registered city contracts totaling $43 million since 2008, all of it (100% of contract value) awarded without a fresh competitive bid: a $43 million "Leases Premises" agreement with the Department of Education (a negotiated real-property agreement), a $343,000 "License Agreement for St. Margaret Mary Asylum Seekers" with the Department of Emergency Management that ended in 2023 (also a negotiated real-property agreement), and two small, expired "recreation services" contracts with the Department of Youth and Community Development awarded as discretionary member-items ($13,000 and $10,500). $18 million has been paid to date.
