USA United Transit, Inc. was one of a group of affiliated Staten Island-based companies (including USA United Fleet, Inc.) that provided bus transportation to New York City public school children with special needs; the affiliated group jointly filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2011 before its assets were sold to MV Transportation. Checkbook NYC records show it held a single $198.4 million Department of Education contract, an assignment awarded without competitive bidding, running from 2000 until it ended in 2011.
