Women's Housing & Economic Development Corp, known as WHEDco, is a South Bronx community development nonprofit whose own site describes its mission as creating and bridging access to affordable housing, early childhood and school-age education programs, family and community services, small business assistance, and cultural programming. WHEDco is based at 50 East 168th Street in the Bronx, per its own materials. On Checkbook NYC, the organization has been awarded $142 million in New York City contracts since 2008 across the Administration for Children's Services, the Department of Design and Construction, the Department of Education, the Department of Social Services, and the Department of Youth and Community Development, including UPK Family Child Care Networks and EarlyLearn Services contracts; 53% of contract value was awarded without a fresh competitive bid.
