Apple Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC) was a not-for-profit local development corporation organized under Section 1411 of New York's Not-for-Profit Corporation Law and operated as a component unit of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC); per NYCEDC's own published records, it handled lease administration and facility management, including tenant billing, rent collection, insurance-compliance monitoring, and inspecting and securing city-owned industrial, commercial, market, and waterfront properties, on NYCEDC's behalf, and it merged into NYCEDC on October 1, 2014, ceasing to exist as an independent entity. The Checkbook contract record under this name nonetheless shows $20 million in currently active leasing contracts as of August 2026 and $24 million awarded all-time since 2006: a Department of Education contract titled "Leases Premises" and a Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications contract titled "License with Option to Lease," plus older Department of Citywide Administrative Services electricity-purchase contracts and a Fire Department storage-rental contract, all tagged in the city's own records as negotiated, public-utility, or
